Course Overview
Graduate Diplomas prepare students to develop advanced knowledge and skills for professional or highly skilled work and further learning corresponding to AQF level 8 qualifications.
Project Management is a distinct professional discipline, having its own body of knowledge, skills, tools and techniques. It involves managing a project from inception to completion and the successful attainment of the project objectives. It provides the opportunity to gain the understanding, knowledge and skills necessary for performing the role of project manager. This course adopts a generic approach to project management and is applicable to any project in industries such as construction, engineering, education, health, commerce, information technology and research and development.

Course Entry and Completion Details
Applicants for a Graduate Diploma are required to meet University academic and English language entry standards; details are provided at http://futurestudents.curtin.edu.au. Applicants generally require a Bachelor Degree or Graduate Certificate. Any specific course entry and completion requirements must also be met.
Specifically, applicants require a bachelor degree; or Graduate Certificate in Project Management.
Credit for Recognised Learning
Applications for credit towards a course are assessed on an individual basis. Credit reduces the amount of learning required to complete the course and may be granted for formal education qualifications, non-formal learning from non-award programs of study and informal learning through work experiences. Intermediate Awards
A student who has successfully completed the requirements of an approved intermediate award may apply for graduation in that award subject to approval of Head of School/Department. Fees apply. Intermediate awards approved for this course:

Course Organisation
Graduate Diplomas contain a series of units which may include compulsory (core), optional or elective units to cater for student preferences. They may contain a range of majors/streams for students to choose from to pursue learning in a specialised area of study.
Selection of PRJM6008 Project Quality Management in Semester 2 will result in students only being eligible for the Professional Stream in the Masters of Science (Project Management). Selection of PRJM6006 Project Management Research 1 in Semester 2, will result in students being eligible for the Research Stream in the Master of Science (Project Management).
Course Learning Outcomes
A graduate of this course can:
1. describe and apply the principles, concepts, tools, techniques and processes of project management
2. think critically and reflectively to analyse project management problems and issues and generate practical effective solutions to facilitate project success
3. source, critically evaluate and synthesise information to support comprehension and decision making in a project environment
4. communicate effectively graphically, orally, and in writing, with academic, professional and community stakeholders
5. use appropriate technologies for the facilitation of project management processes
6. use a range of strategies that will enable continued learning
8. appreciate the cultural diversity of the wider community and its impacts on project management
9. conduct themselves in an ethical and professional manner; demonstrate skills in leadership,self-motivation and working in teams
Duration and Availability
This fee-paying course is one year full-time or equivalent part-time study. This Course is available during both February and July intakes.
