Major/Minor/Stream Organisation
Major/Stream Learning Outcomes
A graduate of this course can:
1. explain the fundamental principles that underpin software and database design
2. use a realistic and practical approach to problem solving and design
3. research and evaluate computing technologies and select appropriate choices for a given software application
4. communicate software requirements, design and implementation to other software developers
5. make and justify appropriate design choices
6. take responsibility for their personal educational development by applying independent study and time-management skills; use a range of learning strategies to develop concepts common to all programming languages and the ability to apply them in a number of different programming languages
7. explain the importance of international software standards and apply them to a software design and implementation
8. respect and recognise the responsibilities of information technology, software engineers and computer scientists in society, both nationally and internationally; value environmental, indigenous and other community perspectives
9. explain the need to adhere to professional and ethical standards when designing and implementing software; work effectively in teams to achieve common goals
