This eight unit major is offered in the Bachelor of Commerce and is designed for people interested in working in the international food industry. The major focuses on the output end of the food value chain with graduates pursuing careers in purchasing and procurement, category management, key account management, food wholesaling and distribution, logistics and shipping, commodity trading, international finance, value chain management and retailing.

A graduate of this course can:

1. apply various types of knowledge to understand and evaluate current and emerging trends in food management

2. think independently, creatively and innovatively

3. access and synthesize information from multiple sources to make sound judgements

4. communicate in an appropriate and confident manner

5. use and apply technologies in ways that are beneficial to the food industry and society

6. develop an understanding of and apply different learning and development strategies in the food industry

7. create new approaches of looking at the international food business

8. demonstrate ways of using cultural diversity to improve business and food management practice

9. critique and reconceptualise the roles of leadership, ethical practice and professional integrity when working within a team and independently
