Course Overview

Bachelor double degrees prepare students to develop broad and coherent knowledge and skills in more than one discipline for professional work and further learning corresponding to AQF level 7 qualifications.

This double degree offer students the opportunity to study a wide range of majors from the Faculty of Science and the Curtin Business School. The combination of these two degrees provides a broad knowledge base leading to the opportunity for diverse career opportunities both in Australia and overseas.

Course Organisation

Bachelor double degrees include a combined degree study program leading to two awards. The duration of the double degree may vary among disciplines, but typically requires less time to complete than if the two undergraduate degrees were studied separately.

Students undertake one major from the School of Science in combination with a major from the Curtin Business School. Students enrolled in the double degree program may elect to transfer to a single degree course in one of the two disciplines. In this event the relevant Head of Department shall determine the amount of credit to be transferred to the single degree.

Course Learning Outcomes

A graduate of this course can:

1. apply broad discipline knowledge to a range of theoretical and practical situations through research and practical application in the field of science and business

2. think creatively and critically to generate innovative solutions to complex scientific, business and commercial problems

3. access, evaluate and synthesise relevant information from a range of organisational and external sources

4. communicate appropriately and effectively in professional, public and scientific contexts

5. apply technologies appropriately

6. demonstrate initiative, responsibility and lifelong learning skills by applying critical reflection and being proactive

7. describe global and cultural issues as related to the science and business areas and their impact on local and international communities

8. demonstrate respect for human rights, cultural diversity and the particular rights of Indigenous Australians

9. show leadership and employ ethical practice and professional integrity, both within a team and independently
