Introduction

This course provides students with agribusiness management and marketing education and training combined with technical education in a number of new technological areas at a more advanced level than the existing three year agribusiness programs. Studentswill develop an understanding of new agronomic technologies along with those of animal science and production. This course will provide an opportunity to meet the need for managers who understand new technologies and are able to apply them within an agribusiness framework. The learning model enables students to gain skills that will enable them to assume leadership roles within the agribusiness sector.

Applications for recognition of prior learning are assessed on an individual basis.

Duration and Availability

The course is four years full-time duration and is available on a part-time and external basis.

Course Organisation

The agricultural technology program consists of broadacre agronomy, agribusiness management, accounting and finance, plant and animal nutrition and reproduction, and new technologies in agriculture, including biotechnology and precision agriculture. Students with a greater than 65% average may elect to complete the Honours Agricultural Technology Stream in fourth year. Refer to the admission into honours degree programs and regulations in the general information section of the handbook.

Professional Recognition

Graduates are eligible for membership of the Australian Institute of Agricultural Science (AIAIS).

Career Opportunities

Graduates will find employment with industries associated with the supply chain of the Agribusiness industry, including as consultants, and in marketing organisations.
