309835 v.1 Sports Administration and Tourism Management Major

Introduction

This double major concentrates on the essential elements relating to sports administration and tourism management. Major sporting events at state, national and more particularly international level attract many tourists who not only attend the sporting event but also want to take in the local sites. This program examines both the theoretical and practical issues relating to hosting a sporting event and also capitalising on the tourism element which is a direct by product of hosting the sporting event. The program accounts for commercial consideration for the local communities attempting to host major sporting events and the associated issues in sports administration while ensuring commercial viability from the tourism industries point of view.
