Prerequisite(s): 11555 (v.3) Thermofluids 251 or any previous version
Syllabus: Energy, momentum and hydraulic principles of open channel flow, channel and flood inundation mapping. Precipitation, atmospheric circulation, hydrologic cycle, measurement, data and error analysis, spatial and temporal patterns, rainfull frequency. Stream flow, flood analyses, runoff models, yields from small and large catchments, and stochastic procedures. Hydraulic design. Fluvial geomorphology, flow in river channels, scour criteria, sediment transport, stable alluvial channels, numerical modelling and management issues.
