Syllabus: An introduction to palliative care nursing and consolidation of knowledge who are already employed in palliative care. This unit will focus on the philosophy of palliative care: assessment of the palliative patient and their family, the management of pain and distressing symptoms in advanced disease, the interdisciplinary team approach to palliative care, bereavement, psychosocial and spiritual issues and the family as care receivers and givers.
