Syllabus: Interfacial and colloid chemistry, electrical double layer. Electrochemical reactions, kinetics and techniques. Experiment design, hydrodynamics and apparatus. Applications: batteries, corrosion and protection, and fuel cells. Analysis of solids by X-raydiffraction and electron microscopy. Theories of nucleation and crystal growth. Polymers: radical, cationic and anionic polymerisation processes, physical and mechanical properties of polymers.
