Syllabus: The aim of the unit is for trainees to become adept at conducting an initial intake interview, learn to use appropriate counselling skills, to be able to write a case formulation and to become familiar with issues relating to the professional practice of a clinical psychologist. Issues covered include the Australian Psychological Society (APS) code of ethics, self-care, cross-cultural approaches, private practice and therapeutic relationships. There are three main components to this unit.
