Introduction

Completion of this major will provide students with the ability to communicate in Japanese culture, with a focus on Japanese language. The major also provides an insight into the social frameworks, political structures and religions of Japanese culture. To successfully complete this major, students are required to complete two core units, eight Japanese language units and two elective units. Students commence with Japanese 111 (Beginners), Japanese 211 (Pre-intermediate), Japanese 311 (Intermediate), or Japanese 321 (Advanced), depending on the student's communicative ability using all skills, and after consultation with the Japanese teaching staff.
