Introduction

This course allows undergraduate students to combine studies in public health (health promotion, epidemiology and biostatistics, food and nutrition, occupational health and safety) with a wide range of optional units. One or two subject areas may be chosen for in-depth learning. This degree also allows the combination of health and business studies within a three-year degree program. Optional business units include - management, law, information systems, human resource management, public relations, marketing and accounting. This option is particularly suitable for health professionals where their original qualification is not of degree status such as dental therapy or nursing.

Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites

One TEE mathematics and one TEE science subject. TEE Human Biology is desirable.

STAT elements considered are E and either V or Q. Applicants for this course should refer to the Communicable Diseases and Criminal Record Screening and Clearance Section of this publication.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Applications for recognition of prior learning are assessed on an individual basis.

Duration and Availability

This course is three years full-time or equivalent part-time study.

Career Opportunities

Graduates find employment in public health organisations, management or promotional positions with health agencies or in the health insurance industry.
