Introduction

This major is designed for those seeking an advanced level of furniture design. It examines historical and contemporary furniture design, current practice in design process, development of hand skills and technical knowledge related to furniture design. This approach is used to assist in realising individual abilities and potential in real work situations. It encourages professional and personal development through action and constructivist learning that is relevant and transferable to industry or further studies.

Course Organisation

Those wishing to undertake the Furniture Design major complete the common first year of the Bachelor of Arts (Design) and then undertake the Furniture Design major.
