Introduction

This double degree combines Asian studies and health promotion. Health promotion professionals work in government, community and international environments with an emphasis on prevention of disease and the importance of staying healthy throughout one's life and creating healthy environments. Asian studies prepares graduates to work in Asia or with people of an Asian background in Australia.

Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites

STAT elements considered are E and either V or Q. A personal information form is required from all applicants. Contact the School of Public Health, Department of Health Promotion on (08) 9266 7927. Recognition of Prior Learning

Applications for recognition of prior learning are assessed on an individual basis.

Duration and Availability

The course is four years full-time or equivalent part-time study.

Course Organisation

Students undertake a major in Chinese (Mandarin), Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Asian Studies or TESOL, in combination with the major in Health Promotion. Students enrolled in the double degree program may elect to transfer to a single degree course in one of the two disciplines. In this event the relevant Head of Department shall determine the amount of credit to be transferred to the single degree.

For Health Promotion - Australian Health Promotion Association.

Career Opportunities

Graduates could work in health promotion in Australia or overseas, or as translators, facilitators and trainers in the health science area in Asia.
