Introduction

This course provides a professional award for graduates in medical science, nursing or related areas interested in infection control. Graduates will develop an understanding of the latest techniques in the detection, spread and control of infectious diseases.

Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites

An approved undergraduate degree in medical science, nursing or equivalent.

Specific Requirements

Applicants for this course should refer to the Communicable Diseases and Criminal Record Screening and Clearance Section of this publication.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Applications for recognition of prior learning are assessed on an individual basis.

Duration and Availability

This fee-paying course is one year full-time or equivalent part-time study. Some units may be available externally.

Intermediate Awards I

A student who has completed the requirements of an approved intermediate award may apply for graduation in that award subject to approval from the Head of School/Department. Fees apply. Intermediate awards approved for this course are:

Graduate Certificate in Infection Control, Graduate Certificate in Hospital Infection Control.

Additional Course Expenses
