230201 v.2 Sports Administration Major


Introduction

This major provides students with the opportunity to acquire both a sound understanding of the sports industry and the skills and knowledge required to pursue a career in sports administration. The Sports Administration component of the degree is unique amongst Australian universities and designed to provide the theoretical foundations and techniques of sports administration. Law, management, psychology and administration are applied to the sport setting with numerous practical sport business examples from a broad range of national and international sports organisations at amateur, professional and Olympic levels.

Professional Recognition

Graduates will meet the academic requirements for membership of the Institute of Sport Management and the Australia and New Zealand Sports Law Association.

Career Opportunities

Graduates will find employment in both the public and private sectors including organisations such as The Department of Sport and Recreation, national and state sporting organisations, institutes and academies of sport, professional league clubs (AFL, NRL, ARU and NBL), recreation centres, tourism organisations and event management agencies.
