Prerequisite(s): 308807 (v.1) Fluid Mechanics 230 or any previous version
 
Syllabus: This unit will not be available until 2006. Review of fundamental principles in fluid mechanics. Ideal fluid flow - stream function, velocity potential. Laplace equation - superposition, flow modelling, circulation and lift. Viscous effects - laminar andturbulent boundary layers, transition, skin-friction drag, slender-body theory, drag coefficient and similarity. Free-surface flows - open-channel flow, Froude number, subcritical and supercritical flows, hydraulic jump, wave drag. Compressible flow. Mach number, adiabatic and isentropic flow, shock waves, lift and drag.
