Syllabus: Aboriginal culture, history, identity, social issues and native title. Interaction between Aboriginal communities and the mining industry. Arid land use - policy and legislative environment, land use and landscape degradation. Landscape function in arid environments. Principles of sustainable land use - hydrology and soil erosion processes, ecosystem monitoring and reconstruction. Plant recruitment and growth - propagation, germination and establishment. Flora and fauna protection, eradication of feral species. Site visits.
