Syllabus: Futures research and its multidisciplinary applications are examined. The complementary roles of quantitative and qualitative research approaches as well as locating and understanding, interpreting and critiquing databases, previous research and related sources of information are outlined. Ways of planning a futures project - identifying contexts and frameworks and choosing data, tools and methods are discussed.
