308908 v.1 Imaging Physics Specialisation Stream (Security Technology)

Introduction

This stream provides Security Technology graduates with both a general security background and specialist imaging physics knowledge and skills. These graduates will be in a position to provide specialist physics and imaging related security advice to security or biophysics organisations and undertake research on security areas such as - physical methods of imaging, data analysis, the use of electromagnetic and ionizing radiation for the development of new detection and monitoring systems and the detection and management of nuclear materials. The students will also be aware of the large range of sensor technologies from other fields of study and the political, ethical and legal implications of security issues. Students interested in security and applied physics will find this stream challenging, interesting and rewarding. Students completing this course will have met the requirements for AIP accreditation and those who achieve good marks will have the opportunity to progress to a higher degree in physics or security technology.
