Introduction

The Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) has been designed to develop highly skilled, critical thinking and practical managers who can also read, carry out and apply the results of the research initiative. It enables them to concentrate on the practical situation and the sensitive aspects that are inescapable in the conduct of business. The DBA program comprises not more than one-third coursework/research preparation, and a minimum of two thirds research program and dissertation.

Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites

A postgraduate qualification and background as approved by the Director, Graduate School of Business and Curtin Business School's Graduate Studies Committee. A minimum of six years relevant work experience. The University's Regulations for Doctoral Degrees apply. Bridging studies may be required in some instances.

Duration and Availability

A minimum of three years and a maximum of four years of equivalent full-time study.

Course Organisation

This course is studied as a research degree. This means that at least two-thirds of this course is undertaken by research and the remainder by coursework. The content of the degree should be determined in consultation with the Postgraduate Coordinator, Graduate School of Business. Students without prior studies in research methods and statistical data analysis will be required to undertake relevant preparatory units. This will increase the stated course duration.

Additional Course Expenses

Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other vital study materials. Costs of thesis preparation and binding are normally paid by the student.
