308699 v.1 Statistics Minor II

Introduction

In many real world problems, the need to analyse data and interpret experimental results in an informed manner requires a good knowledge of statistics. In industry and commerce, the use of statistical techniques allows the practitioner to arrive at conclusions that can be backed by sound theoretical principles. Problems analysed can range from the interpretation of assay results from exploration geophysics to stochastic projection in the share market. This minor is designed for students in a non-mathematics major. To undertake this minor, students must have done Mathematics 101 and Mathematics 102 or equivalent.
