305564 v.1 Mineral Processing Major

Introduction

Mineral processing is an important first stage in the processing of an ore to produce metals. It involves physical breakage of the ore to liberate minerals and the concentration of the valuable minerals as a feed to the extraction processes of pyrometallurgy and hydrometallurgy. The mineral processor requires a sound knowledge of the physics and chemistry of particulate materials. This course will provide the foundation training for operators or technicians in the mineral processing industry.
