Introduction

This double degree in Social Science and Commerce provides students with a broad education in social science disciplines as well as to meet the requirements for entry into commerce.

Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites

None. TEE Applicable or Discrete Mathematics desirable. Applicants without mathematics will be considered and if admitted will be required to study Business Mathematics 015 in year one of their course.

Specific Requirements

STAT elements considered are E and either V or Q.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Applications for recognition of prior learning are assessed on an individual basis.

Duration and Availability

This course is four years full-time or equivalent part-time study. It is available in both internal and external modes.

Course Organisation

Students undertake the Anthropology, Geography, History, Politics or Sociology major in combination with the Accounting, Banking, Economics, Electronic Commerce, Finance, Information Systems, Information Technology, International Business, Marketing, Property, Public Relations, Sports Administration or Tourism Management major. Students enrolled in the double degree program may elect to transfer to a single degree course in one of the two areas. In this event, the relevant Head of Department shall determine the amount of credit to be transferred to the single degree.

Professional Recognition

Professional recognition is granted to accounting graduates in this double degree on the same basis as to those studying in the single accounting degree.

Additional Course Expenses

Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other vital study materials.
