MMinExplTech(Curtin)

This course is not available to International Onshore Students on Student Visas

Introduction

In the mineral exploration industries, a significant number of personnel entered the profession without the specialist training their current positions require. This degree was established in response to the need for upgrading the technical knowledge of exploration personnel. Lecturing staff are drawn from Curtin University of Technology, Macquarie University and from researchers and industry personnel associated with these univeristies.

Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites

Applicants must have an honours degree or approved equivalent qualification in geophysics, mathematics, engineering or geology, and previous employment in the exploration industry. Bridging courses in mathematics, physics, chemistry, geophysics and geology may be available for persons who require them. In certain cases, the need to complete bridging units may result in an extension of studies beyond the normal length of the course.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Applications for recognition of prior learning are assessed on an individual basis.

Duration and Availability

Not available in 2005 and 2006. This course is equivalent to one years full-time study. However it is only available on a part-time basis. Subject to the availability of units from year to year, the courses may take more than two years to complete.
