Basic mechanics. Data collection. Data analysis. Shear strength. Groundwater flow and piezometric issues. Planar and stepped-path failure analysis. Wedge failure analysis. Rotational (circular) failure analysis. Dam design and stability analysis. Probabilistic and numerical techniques in slope engineering. Slope design considerations. Slope formation methods. Slope stability monitoring. Regulatory framework, guidelines and Occupational Health and Safety issues in slope design.
