Double Degree in Agribusiness and Social Science


BSocSc(Curtin), BAgrib(Curtin)

Introduction


This double degree combines agribusiness management and marketing education with training in the social sciences, providing a broad education in geography. Students may elect to study technical principles of agriculture, viticulture, horticulture or aquaculture as part of their agribusiness marketing degree which are then combined with studies from the geography major and other Social Science electives available in the Social Science degree.

Recognition of Prior Learning


Applications for recognition of prior learning are assessed on an individual basis.Students who have completed the Associate Degree in Agribusiness may apply for recognition of prior learning in the Bachelor of Agribusiness Bachelor of Social Science Geography double degree.

Duration and Availability


The course is four years full-time or equivalent part-time study.

Course Organisation


Students undertake both the Geography and the Agribusiness Marketing majors. Students enrolled in the double degree program may elect to transfer to a single degree course in one of the two areas. In this event, the relevant Head of School shall determine the amount of credit to be transferred to the single degree.

Professional Recognition


Graduates may be eligible for membership of the Australian Institute Agricultural Science (AIAIS).

Career Opportunities


Graduates will find employment in either agribusiness or as Landcare officers with Agwest, CALM, Water and Rivers Commission or with local government.

Additional Course Expenses


Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other vital study materials. In addition, students may also need to contribute some of the cost of consumables, which varies depending on the area of study.
