Introduction

Understanding and managing electronic business environments in an enterprise is the focus of this program. This course is designed for students who already have a computing related degree who wish to up-date or enhance their skills and knowledge in the design and management of electronic business technologies. Students will learn both the practical and theoretical aspects of electronic business with the ability to problem solve and apply their knowledge in a global electronic business environment.

Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites

Entrance requirements are a minimum course average of 60 per cent in an undergraduate or postgraduate degree in a computing-related discipline. No relevant industry experience is necessary for entry.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Applications for recognition of prior learning are assessed on an individual basis.

Duration and Availability

This fee paying course is one year full-time or equivalent part-time study.

Intermediate Awards

A student who has successfully completed all the requirements of the Graduate Certificate of Electronic Business may apply under exceptional circumstance provisions for graduation in that award, subject to approval of the Head of School/Department. Course Organisation

The Postgraduate Diploma in Electronic Business consists of eight units of study each carrying a weighting of 25 credits totalling 200 credits. The core areas studied includes managing information systems projects and risks, enterprise infrastructure, collaborative technologies, web design and architecture, information security management and problem solving. Students may choose optional units from the areas of object-oriented design, datamining and advanced database management, executive support systems, business information technology and strategic logistics management. This course forms the first eight units of the Master of Electronic Business and stage one of the Master of Commerce (Electronic Business).

Professional Recognition

With a prior computing related degree graduates may apply for membership of the Australian Computer Society.

Career Opportunities

Postgraduates generally find employment in supervisory roles within private and public organisations utilising electronic business environments.

Additional Course Expenses

Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other vital study materials. In addition, students may also need to contribute some of the cost of consumables, which varies depending on the area of study.
