Introduction


This double degree in Cultural Heritage Studies and Librarianship and Corporate Information will combine the knowledge of cultural heritage with a professional qualification suited for those wishing to work with archives, rare materials and local history.

Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites


None.

Specific Requirements


While not a formal requirement for entry, students are encouraged to have basic computing skills. The School of Media and Information may provide assistance prior to semester in obtaining those skills. STAT elements considered are E and either V or Q.

Recognition of Prior Learning


Applications for recognition of prior learning are assessed on an individual basis.

Duration and Availability


The course is four years full-time or equivalent part-time study.

Course Organisation


Students undertake both the Cultural Heritage Studies and Librarianship and Corporate Information major. Students enrolled in the double degree may elect to transfer to the single degree course in one of the two disciplines. In this event the relevant Head of School shall determine the amount of credit to be transferred to the single degree.

Professional Recognition


It is intended that this course may be accredited by the Australian Library and Information Association and the Records Management Association of Australia. Accreditation will confer professional membership to these organisations.

Additional Course Expenses


Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other vital study materials. In addition, students may also need to contribute some of the cost of consumables, which varies depending on the area of study.
