Syllabus: This unit adopts a cross-cultural approach to understanding the marketing discipline in Asia. It focuses on similarities and differences across cultures to investigate marketing elements within the local environment that are culturally specific as well as elements that are culturally universal by examining both the context and the interactions that influence the effectiveness of marketing in Asia. The role and impact of governance, ethics, social responsibility and politics are analysed and appraised within the Asian marketing context. This unit further focuses on the development of culturally appropriate marketing strategies and assessing the implications of key social issues for the future of marketing in Asia.
