Syllabus: The unit covers the financial management and project evaluation techniques of Mineral and Energy Technologies. The course is designed to provide a basic understanding of the fundamental concepts and principles that influence investment and financing decisions of mining projects at the pre-feasibility stage. Its main objective is to impart to the participants the skills necessary to construct a realistic Discounted Cash flow (DCF) model of a mining project and to evaluate it initially under assumed certainty and then analyzing and taking the related project and financial risks into consideration in shaping investment decisions under uncertainty.
