Introduction

The Curtin Graduate Certificate in Procurement is designed to develop knowledge of procurement theory and practice. The curriculum focuses on understanding and engaging with current and future business challenges in the global environment. The Graduate Certificate in Procurement is an ideal course for those wishing to tailor their own study program. It is also an important entry point for those wishing to pursue a Master of Business Administration.

Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites

A bachelor degree and a minimum of one year work experience. Applications may be considered from those who do not have a bachelor degree provided they have significant work experience at a recognisable level of responsibility. Selection, which is competitive, will be based on a range of information including grades achieved in previous study, referee reports, relevance of work experience, career aspirations and test results. Applicants are required to submit referee reports and a CV. Interviews may also be required. Well-performed candidates without an appropriate background may be admitted but will be required to complete appropriate bridging and special course units as prescribed. In certain cases, the need to complete these special units may result in an extension of studies beyond the normal length of the course.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Applications for recognition of prior learning are assessed on an individual basis.

Duration and Availability

This course is between four to six months full-time or equivalent part-time study. It is offered on a trimester (four months) and semester (six months) basis. Course Organisation

The Graduate Certificate in Procurement is awarded on satisfactory completion of three compulsory units (Organisational Behaviour 550, Contract and Procurement Optimisation 501, Legal Environment 561) and an optional unit which is listed within a choice business and procurement units. Students wishing to articulate to the Master of Business Administration (Strategic Procurement) should consult with the course advisor. This graduate certificate is available fully on-line.
