Introduction

Students undertake the Bachelor of Engineering Pre-Major in their first year and on successful completion proceed in their second year, to one of the following Engineering disciplines: Chemical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Electronic and Communication Engineering, Electrical Power Engineering, Computer Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering and Civil and Construction Engineering. Students are not required to choose a discipline at the start ofthe degree but must make this decision either prior to or at the completion of the Bachelor of Engineering Pre-Major.

Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites

TEE Applicable Mathematics and at least two out of TEE Calculus/Physics/Chemistry OR At least three of the following four: Mathematics 3C/3D; Mathematics Specialist 3C/3D; Physics 3A/3B; Chemistry 3A/3B. Engineering Studies 3A/3B is desirable but cannot be substituted for other pre-requisites. STAT is not accepted for entry but may be used to meet English Competency requirements.

Professional Recognition

The Bachelor of Engineering has been accorded full recognition by Engineers Australia exempting graduates from all academic requirements for corporate membership. To qualify for corporate membership of Engineers Australia a graduate also requires a minimumof four years approved experience following the award of the Bachelor of Engineering degree.

Completion Details

To satisfy requirements, students must complete at least 12 weeks or equivalent of exposure to professional practice. This requirement can be met by appropriate work experience. Students must demonstrate that they have met these requirements by using a formal log book to record their professional experiences during the period of their degree study. Students are also required to complete Senior First Aid training and provide evidence of such to the Faculty for graduation.
