Introduction

This course is designed for students who already hold a degree but have no computing background. It is also designed for students with extensive business management or supervisory experience without a first degree. The graduate certificate program will assist students who need to acquire skills and knowledge in the planning and development of information systems in organisations. The course is of a practical nature, which will assist students to consolidate their learning by applying their knowledge and skills in the business environment.

Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites

A Bachelor's degree in either a non- Information Systems, Information Technology or Computing relatied discipline or an equivalent qualification from a recognised institution; OR Significant professional experience- At least five years' relevant industryexperience.

Recognition of Prior Learning

No exemptions or recognition of prior learning will be given, although units may be substituted at the School's discretion. Other units may be approved by the Manager of Postgraduate Programs.

Duration and Availability

The course is one semester full-time or equivalent part-time study.

Course Organisation

This course consists of four full units of study. The areas studied include: systems analysis and design, introduction to programming, database systems, internet computing, and technical infrastructure.

Career Opportunities

Graduates generally find employment with business organisations and government agencies.

Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other essential study materials.
