Introduction

This course offers students a foundation in leadership studies and business management. Students wishing to specialise may opt areas in either general management, business leadership or fundamentals in oil and gas management. The Graduate Certificate in Business is an ideal take the general business stream or enrol into a specialised stream in oil and gas management or leadership. The Graduate Certificate in Business is an ideal course for those wishing to tailor their own study program. It is also an important entry point for those wishing to pursue either a Master of Business Leadership or Master of Business Administration.

Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites

A bachelor degree from a recognised Australian tertiary institution or equivalent and at least one year of relevant work experience. Selection, which is competitive, will be based on a range of information including grades achieved in previous study, referee reports, relevance of work experience, career aspirations and test results. Applicants are required to submit referee reports and a CV. Interviews may also be required. Well-performing candidates without a first degree will be considered on the basis of significant work experience (at least 8 years) at a recognizable level of responsibility.

Duration and Availability

This course is between four to nine months full-time or equivalent part-time study. For full time it is available on an accelerated load of one trimester (four months) basis or equivalent 100 credit point load within two trimesters (eight months). Course Organisation

The Graduate Certificate in Business (equivalent to a Graduate Business Qualification) is awarded on satisfactory completion of one of three stream specialisations. all three streams have one compulsory unit (Organisation Behaviour 550) and three specialised units which are listed within a choice of three streams: Business Stream, Business Leadership Stream, and Oil and Gas Stream, students select one stream.
