Syllabus: Introduction to palm oil and oleochemical industry. Palm oil mill: system and process, process equipment, environmental control plan (ECP). Palm kernel oil extraction mill process. Palm oil refinery process (degumming, neutralisation, washing and bleaching, filtration, deodorisation, winterisation and hydrogenation). Palm oil derivatives. Palm oil refinery: environmental impact and waste management. Palm oil: sustainability and future industrial direction. Oleochemical chemistry: chemical and physical characteristics and reaction.
