Syllabus: Introduction to object-relational database systems, structured query language (SQL) extensions for object-relational data definition language (DDL) and data manipulation language (DML). Modelling and design of an object-oriented database (ORDB). Physical database design and tuning. Query optimisation. Data mining and on-line analytical processing (OLAP).
