Syllabus (HB): This unit offers you the opportunity to engage with current issues and debates that are topical to discussions of design both within an academic context and within more general discussions in the media. The unit will therefore offer you an opportunity toexamine the issues that surround your own practice and debate those issues with other students in a series of structured seminars. You will therefore also be able to practice and improve your presentation skills through presentations at these seminars andthrough the initiation of discussion topics. This work will provide you with contextual background material for the development of the proposal for the Design Major Project work that is initiated in the Design Project Development Unit. You will also be able to familiarize yourself with the debates about the relevance of design research to practice as they are discussed within the international professional design community.
