Syllabus: This unit focuses on providing students with the concepts and processes required for understanding risk and safety management issues in the context of business planning and development, and demonstrates some of the common techniques used to manage organisational risk and safety. Through participation, practical exercises and case study analysis, students will become familiar with particular hazards, assess their impact and provide defences against their occurrence. Students will participate in the development of a safety management system, applying the theories and concepts they have learned to a practical situation.
