Syllabus:	Geological factors directly influence, and usually control, engineering activities such as drilling, logging, testing, completion, development, and production, as well as all the financial decisions associated with field development. This unit assumes abasic knowledge of petroleum geology either from university studies or from work experience. A review of geological principles and environments of deposition is included. The unit focus is upon the practical impact of geological models and the uncertainty of reservoir appraisal and development. The emphasis of the material delivery is on the need for common understanding between geologists and engineers, and interdisciplinary communication and teamwork in reservoir development and production activities. Engineering, financial, and geological coordination and understanding are emphasised in this unit.
