Syllabus: Designed for students who have studied TEE Applicable Mathematics. Topics include spreadsheet fundamentals using Excel. Spreadsheets and graphics with Excel. Matrices and linear algebra in Excel. Basic programming concepts. Variables and data types and some simple program examples. Subroutines and functions in Visual Basic. Built-in functions. Interaction between the user and macros. Control structures. Selection including select case, iteration, do until loop, do while loop, for loop. Results presentation in Excel. Introduction to Maple. Graphical representation of data. Roots of equation. Linear equations. Markov matrices. Graphics using Maple.
