Introduction

This course provides basic training to those desiring a career shift and/or the necessary prerequisites for honours or postgraduate diploma study in one of the Department's majors: Creative Writing; Literary and Cultural Studies; Performance Studies; Professional Writing and Publishing. Students are expected to achieve a level of competence and performance superior to that of the typical undergraduate student.

Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites

An approved bachelor (or higher) degree or equivalent in a discipline other than English, or a Bachelor of Arts in English (or higher) in an area different from the stream in which study is proposed.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Applications for recognition of prior learning are assessed on an individual basis.

Duration and Availability

This fee-paying course is one year full-time or equivalent part-time study. It should be noted that work in some areas, especially Performance Studies, requires substantial attendance on campus, often in during the day. It cannot be guaranteed that evening classes are available. If bridging work in basic prerequisite units is required the course duration will increase.

Intermediate Awards 1

A student who has successfully completed the requirements of an approved intermediate award may apply for graduation in that award subject to approval of Head of School/Department. Fees apply. Intermediate award(s) approved for this course are:
