Syllabus:

International relations of the Indian Ocean region. Geographical and historical framework, sub-regions, interests and instruments of external powers, evolution of region as strategic area, interaction between external local states, relations within sub-regions, domestic and international sources of foreign policy for selected states such as Indonesia, India, Pakistan and Iran, plus a major research project.
