Syllabus:

Theories of ageing. Demography of aged and psychosocial aspects of ageing. Age related changes in organ systems, drug dosage modifications and determinants of of altered drug responsiveness. Medication management reviews including - taking medication histories, developing patient profiles, assessment of drug related problems, patient care plans and patient monitoring techniques. Special problems of the elderly including - dementia, behaviour disorders, incontinence, immobility, etc. Common diseases in the elderly, complications in chronic drug therapy in the elderly. The clinical therapist's role in management of and communication with the elderly.
