Syllabus:

This unit is designed to give students a broad overview of history, socio-economics, politics and culture in Malaysia. Students will gain insights into the characteristics, dynamics, and peculiarities of Malaysian society; the impact of its history on its present state of nationhood and the interplay of social, cultural, economic and political factors in its growth and development as an emerging leader among third-world countries. It will be delivered through a variety of approaches in order to create an intellectually stimulating atmosphere that allows students to challenge new ideas and assumptions and raise critical issues concerning Malaysia and the rest of the world.
