Syllabus:

Antimicrobial chemotherapy - structure and action of principal groups of antibiotics. Bacterial resistance - mechanisms and methods of laboratory susceptibility testing. Molecular diagnostics and their use. Infectious diseases affecting various bodysites will be studied - specimens examined and laboratory detection and identification of causative organisms. The pathogenesis and epidemiology of infectious diseases will be examined.
