History of colonialism and dependency, theories and models of development, concepts of foreign aid policies of structural adjustment, poverty alleviation and appropriate social development. Working with marginalised groups in the developing world. The role of local initiatives and the non-governmental movement. Examination of development initiatives through a critical evaluation of case studies. Empowerment of people's alliances through social action.
