Introduction

This double degree combines offerings in Indigenous Australian Cultural Studies with any of the following: Literary and Cultural Studies - how literary texts articulate cultural values and contemporary cultural theories; Performance Studies - practical skills in an historical and cultural context; Professional Writing and Publishing - professional communicators in a wide range of fields and skills, roles and contexts of publishing.

Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites

In addition to the University's standard entry requirements, applicants should have completed TEE English or English Literature, (a minimum of 60 per cent is desirable). Applicants may be requested to attend an interview and testing at Curtin to assess their current level of education.

Note

Students will normally be expected to have attained a higher Tertiary Entrance Rank than is required for both single degrees.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Applications for recognition of prior learning are assessed on an individual basis.

Duration and Availability

The course is of four years full-time or equivalent part-time study.

Course Organisation

Students undertake one major in Creative Writing, Literary and Cultural Studies, Performance Studies, Professional Writing and Publishing in combination with the major in Indigenous Australian Cultural Studies. Students enrolled in the double degree program may elect to transfer to a single degree course in one of the two areas. In this event, the relevant Head of Department shall determine the amount of credit to be transferred to the single degree.

Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other essential study materials.
