Syllabus:

Principles and application of optical microscopy - transmitted light, reflected light, dark field, phase contrast, polarised light, interference contrast. Scanning and transmission electron microscopes and the EPMA. Signal processing - x-ray analysis, wavelength and energy dispersive spectrometers, x-ray mapping.
