Syllabus:

Imaging anatomy component - radiographic, surface and applied anatomy of the chest and abdomen. Application of geometric principles and axial relationships to the interpretation of radiographic anatomy, and their implications to radiographic procedures. Imaging component - positioning theory for the chest and abdomen. Integration and application of medical imaging science, instrumentation, and imaging principles with reference to imaging techniques. Instrumentation component - x-ray machine design, x-raytubes, mains supply transformers, rectification, high tension circuits, timing devices and circuit protection. Conventional x-ray equipment design. Single and three phase equipment. Principles of tomography, linear tomography and mobile x-ray equipment. Image intensification and fluoroscopy equipment including mobile equipment. Tests for image quality.
